Amanda Brown has a BA in music from the University of Western Sydney, majoring in composition, and a post-graduate diploma in screen composition from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School. Before undertaking formal musical studies she established a distinguished career as a multi-instrumentalist and composer. She was a member of the acclaimed band the Go-Betweens with whom she toured internationally and recorded two albums. She formed the band Cleopatra Wong with fellow Go-Between Lindy Morrison, which became one the first Australian bands to tour Asia. She has also toured and recorded with numerous pop artists including REM, Silverchair, the Vines, Youth Group, Josh Pyke, the Church, the Reels, Mental As Anything, Died Pretty, David Bridie and David Lane. Amanda is currently composing music for the upcoming documentary A Well-Founded Fear. She has recently completed composing for the features Monkey Puzzle and Son of a Lion. If the Velvet Underground were the ultimate 60s cult band, then the Go-Betweens were the greatest cult band of the 80s. Robert Christgau, NEW YORK TIMES Amanda Brown is one of the unsung heroes of the local industry... Brown has created a brave, languid and at times nakedly gorgeous album that hooks right into you.
